Monterey Bay Activities

Point Sur Lighthouse - Pt. Sur Lighthouse and its supporting lightstation buildings, now a California State Historic Park, stand atop a dramatic volcanic rock just off-shore in Big Sur, California. This historic aide-to-navigation has a modern aero-beacon which still guides ships along the treacherous Central California Coast. On the National Register of Historic Places and a California Landmark, Pt. Sur can be visited by guided walking tours year round.

Monterey County Youth Museum -
MY Museum is a hands-on place for kids and families of all ages! You can touch everything! There is a lot to explore, create, learn and discover in many different areas! You can dress up and be a chef or an actor or a doctor or a fisherman or a carpenter...or anything YOU want to be!

Monterey Museum of Art - The museum's permanent collection includes California paintings, sculpture, works on paper and photography, Asian art, international folk art, and features significant bodies of work by Armin Hansen, William Ritschel, Ansel Adams, and Edward Weston.

Mural Art in Santa Cruz - Murals aren't like other paintings. They have a different purpose, a different kind of effect on the lives of those who see them. They're public art in the best sense, because they are actually created in public, with the community looking on.

Capitola Historical Museum - The Museum maintains an extensive collection of photographs and artifacts related to Capitola's history, and offers changing exhibits on the history and art of the area, as well as on special seasonal and topical themes.

The National Steinbeck Center - Rooted in the earth and the people of the Salinas Valley, author John Steinbeck achieved worldwide recognition for his keen observations and powerful descriptions of the human condition. He championed the forgotten and disenfranchised while affirming the strength of the human spirit. His life was as rich and provocative as the Salinas Valley he immortalized in his writing. Steinbeck drew his inspiration from this land and became known throughout the world, receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.
